Shells

Along the shore
shiny, the water’s edge
turning, reflecting

along the shore
beached, left drying
parched colors
brittle to crack

Shells along
the shore
my pale toes
wading in the rippling
along the shiny, reflecting

The summer
the beach straddles
the sea
reminding me
her undulating curves

disappearing
behind the dunes,

Once shiny shells
sitting on the shelf
the memory of her
being here,

straddling
the shore….
