Stealing Her Away

Stealing her away
what else could I do
to gain her trust
to make her break
all bonds with the one
she was with,

Taking her from
what she had known
convincing her
that I knew better
and how I wished
that deep down inside
she knew that too

Slipping away
in the dead of the night
with ladders and cars
so darkened as such
cutting the locks
that bound her heart
with his

A thief
in the night
with his bounty
the spoils of war
the ultimate prize
won justly, won lovingly

Stealing her away
such a noble task
away from the arms
which held her every night
away from his looks
his loving eyes

No greater theft
nor nobler ambition
for someone who
treasured her
in a most precious way

-the thief in me
