The You, You Are

The you, you are
is the you, I see

What you were before this moment,

is unknown. Like untested waters, cold and dark.

The you, you’ve told me about

is another person, past memories, past loves

Water under the bridge,

passed on by,

The you, I know today

is a person of great charm,

witty and intelligent,

clever and in many ways, my equal

Equal thoughts, dreaming of such

of this and of that,

of life and of love,

of faraway places,

where foreign tongues are spoken,

The you today, cannot convince me

of the you, you were,

Call me blind, or ignorant, but

I choose the people, I want to be with

….Like you…

My heathen tendencies are waiting to blossom at the Mid-Summer Evening in Denmark. In a Country that professes to have an overwhelming population of believers in the Christian Faith, I am always reassured by their pagan ways, at least one night per year. I won't be throwing myself on the bonfire, but I plan on being warmed by the thoughts of the fun-loving Danes, burning witches at the stake, while singing songs and drinking beer!
