The church has a helix spire with an external winding staircase consisting of 150 steps.
The spire is 250 year’s old.
The church was inaugurated in 1746 by King Frederick the 5th.
There are all together 400 steps with the last 150 being on the outside of the spire.
The tower’s counter clockwise helix is said to be created, so soldiers could hold onto the railing, while using a sword in their right hand, while they backed up towards the top.
